Home of God, Grass, and Grit
Home of God, Grass, and Grit
As all of us know, disasters are terrible. They can rob people of the basic necessities of life -- things like food, shelter, health or a way to earn a living. In a matter of minutes, they can devastate an entire community. There is much that can be done to prevent or reduce the impact of disasters, the loss and suffering - to manage emergencies and disasters.
The Department of Emergency Management works to reduce risks, strengthen support systems and help people and their communities prepare for and cope with disasters regardless of the cause. We accomplish this through what is known as mitigation, which is simply the ongoing effort to lessen the impact disasters have on people and property. We also work with closely with Fire, Medical, Law Enforcement, Utilities, Industry, Schools, Business and others to develop and test emergency response plans.
In the weeks ahead, the City of Stratford will be partnering with Sherman County and PRPC to bring you the newest in safety technology. Genasys will allow us to utilize the 911 database in the event of a natural disaster or other sort of emergency to keep you informed. We will be notifying you and doing some testing in the weeks ahead. Read about it by clicking the logo below.
